False Light: Jay Z, Black Ice, and materialism guarded by the Fashion Police

I like lyrics via sound play: The way you slow down and speed your flow, and the way you emphasize some words over others, is key to getting across a message.

Jay-Z does this the best; that said, his content isn't where it used to be. It seems "Hova" gave us prophecy on his first joint [Reasonable Doubt], and then HE -- not us (public/masses) -- "lamed out." Is the self-entitled god of rap a false one? I want an encore, Jay, but one that goes back further than club bangers and typical braggadocio content. But I am not a hater; no, they got it twisted -- Like slam poet/emcee Black Ice says "when you're negative you're positive/ and when you're positive you're called a hater." The music industry pumps out materialism and fame like it is everyday and normative, according to Black Ice's testament. Black Ice may very well be the best out there right now, as far as content and style goes -- check_him_out...

Therefore, if you don't push big cars and if you don't have front row seats against the Knicks and Nets - if you are not "Spike'd out" then you are not normal, it seems, and you must change that by any means necessary. That is false prophecy, Jay.

AK47 To the Rescue?

The Lakeshow grabbed over 50 boards and 10 blocks on average in the first two games against the Jazz. Andre Kirilenko has well over 1,000 blocks in his career; plus dude gets boards. Therefore, the Jazz are activating AK for game three -- he practiced on Thursday.

Not sure if that is going to do much. This is why:

Fesenko and Koufos have COMBINED FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF 8 BOARDS IN THE FIRST TWO GAMES. Are you kidding me? AK might grab a couple boards and get a few blocks, but if these bigs are doing what they are doing, then AK's effort is going to be band-aid on a gash -- the bleeding is not going to stop. (Plus AK still is nursing that calf injury.) Lakes, in the end, are just too damn big. They got too much firepower. I think the Lakers will steal one in Utah, and come back home to clinch it.

Although, I will say this: Jazz could very well take both games in Utah. Utah fans are nuts. They got one of the best home court advantages in all the land; they love their Jazz out there. But I think the Lakes just cause too many mismatches.

And for all you Kobe haters out there, go peep "Doin Work" by Spike Lee, and you will see that Kobe has a real love for the game. He studies tape; gets in the gym; and is a general on the court. Glitz, media and Shaqopera's aside, dude has a deep respect for the game. I am not sure if Jazz have that kind of leadership; I realize Sloan is one of the best coaches out there, but they don't have an on-the-court player that can lead like a Kobe, or a Grant Hill, or a Tim Duncan.
